Computers’ power to process information is always compared to that of humans. Their capabilities are referred to as their intelligence.
Computers are machines that utilise mathematical formulae to analyse, predict and reproduce logic. Their success is based on the accuracy of the design and implementation of their mathematical formulae or code.
Our brain can also ascertain logic from uncertain, confusing and even random pieces of information thanks to our neurons. In reality, we still don’t fully understand how our brain works. So, recreating logic as a mathematical formula remains a challenge.
We are uncertain how fast our brain works. But it is projected to be over 20 times faster than the current top supercomputer and at least ten times more efficient!
The Human Brain Project, launched in 2013 with the ultimate goal of reaching the power and speed of the human brain, has already received billions of euros in funding.
The global investment on this topic is in trillions.
Wouldn’t it be a more sensible use of resources, to first save our irreplaceable unique planet, to ensure survival; before we attempt to restate billions of years of evolutionary perfection into a mathematical formula for machines?
